Short answers to questions that come up with more than one mod.

How to manually backup your mod folder

Do this before you run any tool that changes your mods. A copy you made yourself is the only backup that doesn't depend on that tool working correctly. It takes a minute and costs nothing.

  1. Close The Sims 3.
  2. Open your game's documents folder, usually Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, and find the folder called Mods.
  3. Copy the whole Mods folder to another place, for example your desktop or a second drive. Copy it, don't move it. Or right-click it and choose Send to, Compressed (zipped) folder to get one zip file.
  4. Check that the copy is about as big as the original (right-click, Properties) and give it a name with today's date, so you know which one it is.

To go back, close the game, delete the contents of your Mods folder and put the contents of the copy in its place. Keep the copy until you have played for a while and are sure everything works.
